The renovation of a small apartment in Athens is defined by a clear architectural gesture, the articulation of its interior through solid walls of red travertine.
Rather than serving as a decorative cladding, the stone becomes a fundamental element of the architectural composition. Two principal axes, forming a T-shaped configuration in plan, take physical form through these solid stone walls. They organize the layout, separating the private rooms from the open living area, while giving the apartment the impression of an almost carved spatial structure.
A micro-terrazzo floor, in a tone closely matching that of the travertine, reinforces the chromatic continuity between horizontal and vertical surfaces. In contrast to the strong material presence and natural stratification of the stone, wood introduces a softer, more intimate scale, while stainless steel offers precision, clarity, and a reflective quality.

The kitchen is integrated into the living area as a discreet, adaptable element. Large folding panels allow its functions to be completely concealed, transforming it into a continuous architectural surface.
The apartment's western orientation plays a defining role in shaping its atmosphere. As the afternoon sunlight penetrates directly into the interior, the red and rose tones of the travertine intensify, enveloping the space in a warm, diffused glow.
The apartment thus seeks to evoke the feeling of a protective, almost cave-like interior. A warm, intimate enclosure where stone, colour, and light come together to create a unified spatial experience.
